Quickie catch-up!

Hey again y’all!! Look at this!!! Posting two nights in a row!!!  Who would’ve thunk it?! LOL.. sorry, but I am in SUCH a good mood tonight!!! I just got back from my Warrior class at bootcamp and I am so proud of myself! A couple weeks ago, we did deadlifts and push presses. Now, for those that don’t know, the Warrior class is all heavy lifting and endurance training. So a couple weeks ago, my max deadlift was 225 and max push press (weights in the racked position at your shoulders, a small dip with the knees and propell the weights up over head and back to your shoulders) was 50lb dumbells. Tonight, my max deadlift was 245 and max push press was 52.9 kettlebells. 245?!?! Can you believe it?! That’s my personal best!!! Once before I was able to deadlift 240. Now, 5 more lbs isn’t much, but 20lbs more than I could do a few weeks ago is hella good!! 🙂 I wish I could’ve gone a little higher on the push press, but Ben only has 50b dumbells and then the kettlebells go from 52.9 to 61.5. 61.5 was a big jump when the 50lb dbs were hard to begin with. It’s amazing what you can do, even when it seems impossible. 🙂

Ok, I have a few pics for you tonight. To help catch up then I am off to bed! I have to be to work at 7 tomorrow instead of 8! Which means no bootcamp for me. 😦 😦

Day 178 7/6/11:

Leaning tower of pine

This is a result of all the flooding that happend this Spring. We’re taking bets on when it finally falls all the way over.

Day 179 7/7/11:

Warrior battlescars 🙂

I display them proudly. 🙂

Day 180 7/8/11:

Healthy din din

Mmmm.. beef stir-fry over cous cous! Delish!

Day 181 7/9/11:

Thank you Mr. Monarch!

Day 182 7/10/11:

Orange delights

Day 183 7/11/11:

Sea of torture

Stupid things are everywhere!!!! 😦

Well, that’s it for tonight! Later!

Return from the brink!!!

Ok, I admit. After being away for so long, I was contemplating giving up on doing this. I mean, it seemed like a lost cause. I’m sure all my readers have gone away. Well, I hope a few of you stayed and that the others will come back. It’s been SO long since I posted pics that I honestly have no idea where I left off!! Ok, got it, 6/17. Phew! That was a long time ago! Yikes!!! Oh well!!!

I actually did a lot of backtracking and editing tonight so I have a ton of pictures to post for you. Believe it or not though, I am still behind. I apologize for not following through, by the way. I started to do the editing and then it just got overwhelming. I was like, oh my god! I’m never going to get caught up!! 😦 😦 But tonight, I bit the bullet and finally got back on track. I still have a lot more work to do, but this is a good start. So here we go:

Day 160 6/18/11:

Grrrody!

Day 161 6/19/11:

Somehow you'll come shining through

Day 162 6/20/11:

Setting reflections

Day 163 6/21/11:

Peaceful paddle

Day 164 6/22/11:

Red at night, sailor's delight

I seriously have a thing for clouds, and this one is just gorgeous! 🙂

Day 165 6/23/11:

Just a bit of company

This guy swam with me for quite a ways before he decided to go onshore!

Day 166 6/24/11:

My first strawberry! (and a tiny friend)

I was very excited to see this little guy! I just planted these this year so I wasn’t sure if I’d get any berries at all! I picked this one too soon though, it was a little sour. I don’t know what happened to the other one. I’m assuming a bird or an animal got it because I never saw it again after this. 😦

Day 167 6/25/11:

Stumbling stream

Day 168 6/26/11:

Riverwalk

Day 169 6/27/11:

Berry beautiful!

Believe it or not, this is on the side of our yard where it’s all undergrowth. I threw those orange tiger lilies back there last year and they came right back up. Those things are hardy little suckers!!

Day 170 6/28/11:

Strong signage

I am so proud to have been a part of the Relay for Life! It was a privilege to volunteer my afternoon to this great cause!

Day 171 6/29/11:

Have your cake & eat it too

Day 172 6/30/11:

Hold still Mr Bee

I LOVE how vibrant the color of this flower came out. It’s so amazing!!!

Day 173 7/1/11:

The pot 'o gold is near!

At my neighbor’s house! Who knew?!

Day 174 7/2/11:

More than meets the eye

We went to see the opening of Transformers 3. It was AWESOME!!! 🙂

Day 175 7/3/11:

Looking back

Day 176 7/4/11:

And the rocket's red glare...

I am SO excited about this picture! Isn’t it awesome?! I love it!! My camera has a special setting specifically for fireworks! Have I mentioned how much I love my camera?!

Day 177 7/5/11:

No passe for you (or should I say "vous"?)

Stupid road construction!! I will give them credit though, they only had this portion of our street closed off for a week, so kudos to them. Now if we could just get them to come back and finish by repaving this section they ripped up it’ll be all good. 🙂

Well folks, that’s it for tonight! I think nearly 20 pictures is enough for one posting. 🙂 Stay tuned tomorrow for more! 🙂

Yo! Where you at?!

Hey there! So do I still have followers? I’ll understand if people have drifted off since my last post was just about a month ago. No, I didn’t forget about my blog. First of all, my stupid computer crashed AGAIN. F-ing thing. It took a couple of weeks for us to get a new one (LOVE my emachine!) and then… well, I’ve put off the inevitable I think. I wasn’t sure what kind of photo editor this computer has so I’ve taken pictures, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to get them on here. I finally decided tonight that I would try to figure it out.

The sad thing is, I don’t even know where I’m at with my 90 day challenge either. I feel bad about that. I feel like I’ve let my fellow 90 day-ers down. I hope they’re not too disappointed in me. I have struggled the past week or so. I have a cheat meal, but then it turns into another one later in the week (and possibly another one!). I really don’t know where my head is at. Must be up my butt somewhere I guess. 😦 I guess I have to just keep trying, keep working at it. I have done pretty well with the workouts though. I’ve got at least 4 in a week. I will admit that on the days that Hailey and I don’t get together for our usual cardio that I tend to blow off working out by myself. Something I will have to get over. I’m better than the effort I’ve put in. I did this once, there’s no reason that I can’t do it again.  This week is the off week so I really have to talk myself into working out. Luckily Hailey and I will be swimming and meeting up for our cardio session on Thursday.

I am glad that the Warrior class has started on Tuesday nights. I LOVE it! It’s a non-traditional bootcamp workout. It’s heavy lifting, tire flips, pulling a heavy kettlebell across the room using a rope. Weird crazy shit. I can do crazy. I love crazy. 🙂 And, it’s a different kind of “sweat” than bootcamp. I can’t say enough good things about it.  At the first Warrior class my highest deadlift was 225. Not too shabby. My highest ever was 240. The record for the Derby studio is 245. I do love a challenge and that number right there is my challenge. 🙂 Last week we did pull ups, double kettlebell squats and then banded push ups and… shoot I can’t remember the other one. The ones I do remember are pull ups and push ups. I hate those two exercises!! Those two are my worst. It showed too. By the end of the workout I was actually kinda pissed. Usually I use my workouts as an outlet, but this one pissed me off. First, I can not do a pull up (as I’ve mentioned before). So when the others were told to do as many pull ups as they could and then hang for as long as possible I was like “ok”. But then Ben said, “and you’re just going to hang”. I was like, damn! How come they can do pull ups and I can’t? Ding! Grr point number one. Then, I really couldn’t even hang on the bar. I got up for about 5 seconds and then boom, back down. Grr point number two. We had to do each thing 4 times so every time I had to go back to pull ups it would make me mad. Grr points three through five. I could see the others across the studio doing pull ups and it would piss me off. Grr points number six through infinity. Oh well though, I know that the Warrior class is going to change all that. It’s helping me get stronger and build endurance.  I’m hoping it’ll help me train for the strongman/strongwoman competition in a couple of weeks. I’m a little nervous about it, but it should be fun.

Since I have 60 pictures (holy $%*&!!) I need to post, I’m going to do this in several posts. Get ready for some major catch up people! 🙂

Day 152 6/10/11:

Orange beauties

 Day 153 6/11/11:

Sunset on the Golf (course)

Day 154 6/12/11:

 Day 155 6/13/11:

Umm.. yeah.. I think maybe purple is my favorite color. 🙂 Don’t you?

Day 156 6/14/11:

Oops.. I pea'd on the counter

 Day 157  6/15/11:

Repeat repeat repeat

 Day 158 6/16/11:

Completed project!!!

This is the pink-a-licious blanket that I made for my niece’s 3rd birthday. She loved it by the way. 🙂

Day 159 6/17/11:

Yup.

Well folks, it’s getting late so I’ll have to post some more tomorrow. I just realized too that I have a lot more catch-up to do so don’t go away! 🙂

Day 149 6/7/11:

 Day 150 6/8/11:

Insta-sweat

Didn’t take long in the 90 degree weather yesterday for this can to start sweating!

Day 151 6/9/11:

Beating the heat

Even though we had thunderstorms today, it was still freakin hot!!

Well, this past week, again, food has been good. I’ve been doing really great.  I’ve weighed myself and I am down 5lbs. That is -5 from my original starting weight (not taking in the 4lbs gained and lost). I’m pretty happy with that. I think 5lbs in 2 weeks is pretty good. I’m also starting to notice some of my clothes are getting a little bit looser which I really like. I think the walks at night that Mike and I have been doing are really helping. I’m hoping to start taking the Warrior class at Bootcamp. It’s a heavy lifting non-traditional workout and I love it. It’ll definitely kick it up a notch. 🙂 If you’re curious, we’ll be doing things like tire flips, sand bag carries, even jeep pulls (yes.. pulling a jeep strongman style). Should be kick ass!

Well, that’s it for tonight. Night!

Thursday!

Well.. here I am!!! It’s Thursday and I’m actually posting! It’s a miracle!!

I weighed myself this morning and I am happy to say that I lost the 4lbs that I gained. Woo HOOOOOOO!!!!! 🙂 I am very excited!!! 🙂 It’s too bad my day went downhill from there. 😦  It’s nothing related to food or exercise, I got my butt thoroughly kicked by miss Hailey this morning. We did our normal 30:30 then did our ab tabata after (8 minutes non-stop of ab exercises). The ab tabata was the hardest we’ve done yet. It was 1 minute bicycles, 1 minute get up sit ups and a 2 minute plank, twice through. I am not a big fan of the 2 minute plank. I can do one minute, but 2 is pushing it. We had to do that stinking thing twice!!! I’m happy to say, though, that I held it the entire 2 minutes both times. A personal best! 🙂 Afterwards, Hailey says: “well, guess we can move on to the three-minute plank!”. I’m pretty sure that if looks really could kill she’d be dead!! LMAO.

So anyway.. that’s pretty much the happenings for today. Oh, I meant to mention before that Mike and I have been doing our walks at night. We went Monday-Wednesday and will probably go again on Sunday if it’s nice. I think if it’s nice on Saturday we’ll be mowing the lawn and we agreed that we would skip the walk on those days. We don’t have a huge lawn (it’s only 1/3 of an acre), but it takes us just over an hour to do the whole thing. I’m pretty sure it’s as much, if not more, than our normal 3 mile walk. I’m really glad that we’re doing the walks. It’s good for Mike to get out and get some exercise too. I’m sure it’ll help his high blood pressure.

So, here is today’s photo:

Day 144 6/2/2011:

Give me strength

Like I said, it was a rough day. I’m glad it’s over, and I’m glad tomorrow is Friday. Bring on the weekend!!

Well, that’s it for tonight!

Long weekend? Not so much.

Hi again!

Yes, I had to work on Monday. 😦 I can’t say that I was happy about it, but that’s the way it goes. In my job we have to cover 24-7, even on holidays. The only holidays we ever close for are Christmas and New Years. Both Canada and the US celebrate these holidays and there are barely any trucks crossing on those days. We’ve just had people on call. BUT.. I hope that everyone else had a good day off and that you thanked any service men or women that you know (past and present) for their service. They sacrifice a lot (sometimes everything).  In honor of that, here is monday’s picture:

Day 141 5/30/2011:

A soldier's life

These are only some of the bars, pins and awards that Mike’s dad has from his service in the military. As you can see, the medal with the yellow, red & green stripes is from Vietnam. After his tour in Vietnam, his dad worked in the Air National Guard in Burlington. Thank you Dan.

Well, Monday night I was surprised to find that Taz had come in with a limp. He was barely putting weight on it and the paw was swollen. Luckily, I have a great vet (and friend!) who does house calls and she came over Tuesday morning. She said that he had an abscess and she had to drain it. As you can imagine, Taz was less than thrilled with this idea. He mewed and growled like I’ve never heard him do. NOT a happy boy! 😦 Then, Dr. Hailey (of Doctor at your Door – locals can check her out at www.thedoctoratyourdoor.com or call her 802-334-2655 – I completely recommend her!!).  After we were done, Taz started licking his wound, as cats do and.. well.. see for yourself:

Day 142 5/31/2011:

Cone head

For the first 20 minutes or so, he was stuck in reverse! It was pretty hilarious actually. I did feel bad for him. I still do. He has to keep the collar on until the end of the week, which means that he is housebound until then. He’s really not liking that part. Plus, he cuts corners and the cone stops him short, then he just stands there like he’s not sure what to do next. Poor boy. 😦

Here’s today picture:

Day 143 6/1/2011:

Shadow dancer

I thought this was pretty cool. 🙂

Food has been going well so far this week. I had a cheat meal this morning so that’s it for the week, which is fine. Monday Hailey and I went for a run. We did 2 miles in 28 minutes which is pretty good. There were a couple good-sized hills in there so I think we did great! Yesterday we did our normal cardio here and then 8 minute abs after (do ab exercises for 8 minutes straight). Today we were supposed to go to IROC to swim, but Hailey’s dog (or one she was dog sitting for) was freaking out because of the storm so she couldn’t leave it. I was going to swim anyway, but they closed the pool because of the storm.  I went home and almost didn’t work out. I had to keep telling myself  “Do it. Just do it and get it over with. You have to work out today. ” I did though. I popped in one of my bootcamp DVD’s and kicked my own ass. 🙂 Well, with Ben’s help of course. 🙂

All in all, I feel pretty good about this week so far. I’ve been without peanuts or cashews for a week and a half now and I’m not craving them too bad. I do wish sometimes that I still ate them, just because I’m getting kind of sick of cheese. Oh well!! Suck it up Cordeau!!!

Tomorrow is poker night, so unless I get out early (which is a distinct possibility) I probably won’t post. I haven’t forgotten though. If I don’t get home too too late I’ll jump on and at least post my picture. Ok? Ok! Well, night all!!

New week

Well, we’re heading into week 6.. day 41 of 90. Almost to the half-way point. And I’ve gained 4lbs. 😦 Shitter. That’s ok though. I have a plan for this week and I’m sticking to it.

I am going to go for a run tomorrow (unless Hailey wants to swim in the morning). Tuesday and Thursday will be normal cardio days with Hailey, and Wednesday and Friday Hailey and I are going to swim at the local gym. I think by Friday she may be sick of seeing me! LOL.. I’m a little nervous about running tomorrow. I haven’t done it in quite awhile. The simple reason for that is that I don’t really like it. I’m not a big fan. I just don’t get the “nirvana” that people seem to get when they run. Honestly, I get bored with it. I’m definitely not a distance runner. Tomorrow I’m going to run from my house for 15 minutes and then 15 minutes back, running the whole time. NO stopping! The part that will suck is the hill going back to my house. It’s a calf burner! But, oh well!

I did good at Applebee’s yesterday. I had a chicken ceaser salad and a glass of water. They didn’t have the garlic chicken that I usually get so I thought a salad would be best. I could’ve had a steak and side salad, but decided on the chicken instead. I can’t help it, I love chicken!! 🙂 Mike actually wasn’t that impressed with them either. They changed the menu and he had is heart set on a certain thing, like me, and they didn’t have it any more. The food was very good, but it wasn’t long after that he was hungry again!

After Applebee’s we hung around the mall killing time then headed over to the theater. There were TONS of people there!!! The Hangover 2 was already sold out for the 9:30 showing! We, however, went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It was pretty good. I was very annoyed by the woman and her kids that sat behind us and yapped the whole time. I mean really! Who goes to a movie to sit there and talk the whole time??!!! I told them “shh!!!” like three times! Once more and I was going to say something to them. I can’t stand that. If you want to talk during a movie, watch it at your house, not the theater.  They weren’t speaking english either, but I think “shhh!!!!” is pretty universal! Anyway, the move was good and I would recommend seeing it, especially if you’re a fan of the series. I don’t, however, think you have to rush to the theater to see it. I’ll bet the DVD will have neat extras too. 🙂

Well, I guess that’s it for tonight. Oh, one thing I meant to mention, I have given up peanuts and cashews. I said yesterday that they’ve been my Achilles heel and I meant to add that. And don’t worry, I’m not giving up on this 90 day challenge. On the contrary, I am full steam ahead. I WILL do this. I CAN do this! 🙂 I sent a card to each of my 90 day challenge cohorts and I guess I should’ve kept a copy for myself. It basically said: believe in yourself, because I believe in you.

Oh! I almost forgot!!! Here is today’s photo:

Day 140 5/29/11:

Summertime favorite, the healthy version

That’s right. No buns! And, those are chicken sausages! Yum!! I usually have the jalapeño ones, but the store didn’t have them. These are the garlic sausages. They were “ok”. I wouldn’t want to eat them a lot.

Ok, I’m really signing off now. Night!
